Hip joint arthrosis

The hip joint is the second largest joint in the body. The acetabulum of the pelvis and the head of the femur are covered with a smooth layer of cartilage.
Articular cartilage is composed of an elastic tissue, and enables a round, low-friction movement.
The tight, strong joint capsule, the strong ligaments and the surrounding muscles stabilize the joint, and provide particularly good support.
The following conditions in the hip joint can be very common:
Osteoarthritis, impingement, congenital diseases

Osteoarthritis

Due to wear and tear and the aging process, wear and tear occurs in the area of the joint.

In the case of coxarthrosis ( hip joint arthrosis), one speaks of advanced destruction of the joint cartilage. It can also affect the surrounding structures.

One cause of wear and tear can be incorrect loading, due to congenital malpositions , or wear and tear due to overuse. Furthermore, microtrauma or bone fractures can be a significant contributor.
In coxarthrosis, the elasticity of the cartilage decreases and limited mobility with pain and muscle weakness occurs.
